BUILD

My Pod modular and transportable homes are robustly constructed from materials specifically selected for their durability to Costa Rica's tropical climate.
The structure of the pod home is first built from square and rectangular sectioned, galvanized steel tubing and fully welded to form a strong base frame, which is architecturally termed, 'lightweight frame construction', and meets the anti-seismic requirements of Costa Rica's construction code, for permitting purposes.

A sub-floor of 1-inch thickness, fiber-reinforced, cement board is then added, along with the under-insulated, rectangular profile zinc roof sheets.
The main structural frame is then secondarily framed-out with structural grade, galvanized steel framing, ready to accept the exterior, fiber-glassed sheathing board and fiber-reinforced, cement board siding. Fascia boards are added and stucco finish is applied to the sheathing sections, before the entire exterior is coated with a waterproofing primer, to await the final paint schedule.

The secondary styrofoam panel roof insulation is installed to complete the roof's thermal protection from solar radiation transfer and to provide sound insulation from the acoustic affects of tropical rainfall. The metal furrings are now fixed to accept drywall.
The unit is then cabled for lighting, power outlets and dedicated appliance circuits and internally tubed for hot and cold water supplies.
All electrical cabling is completed in double-sheathed submersible type cable and all plumbing tube-work in schedule 40 PVC and CPVC, with glued fittings.
The module is then fully insulated with R11 fiber-glass insulation for thermal and sound protection. The highest quality aluminum doors and windows are installed and the unit is boarded ready for finishes.

Drywall finish and paints are applied, the sub-floor is overlaid with a thin hardwood ply to accept the tough and water-resistant vinyl floor finish. Recessed low-energy LED ceiling lighting is installed and the electrical outlets and dedicated appliance supplies are terminated.
Pine timber trim is machined and fitted, the furniture installations, of water-resistant melamine board cabinetry are completed, ready for installation of quartz counters and final fittings.
The exterior is fully painted, flashings are installed and sealants are applied.

Please note that for the purpose of demonstration of the construction method, the above example was built in-situ and on location, and where access conditions meant that a transportable solution could not be achieved. My Pod will only build transportable modular homes within our own, controlled factory environment, for absolute precision, timescale efficiencies and quality assurance, for our clients, without any exception.
